ANDALUCIA COSTA DEL SOL OPEN DE ESPAÑA
Aloha GC, Spain
22nd - 25th of September
Those putts just refused to drop!
I hit every green the first 11 holes and was quite close most of the time, but it was only on the 9th that the first and only birdie dropped and that is not enough at Aloha because you know you are going to bogey sooner or later.
So I´ll take the positive with me: the second day´s -5 round that got me back in the cut.
Top 27th is not bad, but I know I can do a lot better.
Thanks to Jaime, my caddy, you really helped me out!
Congratulations to Azahara on a great win on her home turf! ¡Bien hecho!
Almost a good day!
It was tough out there, nobody seemed to be making putts and the scores were higher than anticipated.
I kept it together and was 1 under on the 18th tee when my only wayward shot of the day punished me: I pulled the tee shot into the lake and took a double. Finished +1 for the day and +2 overall, which leaves me tied 14th.
Tomorrow I need another day to remember, it can be done!!!
Tee off is at 9:10 tomorrow.
A day to remember!! :)
It did not look too rosy after +6 the first day, but I did it!
Seven birdies and two bogeys, -5 for the day and +1 overall. 26 putts and only missed two fairways.
That is 9 shots less than yesterday and I have gone from 100th position to 22th.
A day to forget :(
My favourite club let me down today: I was battling to keep a drive on the fairway all day and this course makes mince meat of you if you are not straight off the tee.
When a wayward drive joins bad luck and lack of common sense, what you get is a triple bogey on the first hole: what a slap in the face!
Oh well, I have my work cut tomorrow to make the cut.
Let´s get the show rolling!!
I have a late tee time today at 13:42 and tomorrow earlier at 08:42.
I am eager to start. This course is fun, there are very few shots that are level to the green, it is so hilly.
You need to play very strategic golf here and place the ball precisely every time.
With golf being such an important part of life here in Marbella, I anticipate quite a lot of visitors over the weekend.
Played the ProAm
The format is Spanish Scramble which is a variation on the classic Texas Scramble. My team companions Félix, José and Raimundo were really nice and it was a lot of fun. Stacey Keating from Australia played the first 9 holes and I played the back nine. We came in at -17. but nowhere the winning score of -33! Congratulations Piti!
Arrived in Marbella
I did not remember it being so hilly here.
I wonder what the course is like, lately I feel like a mountain goat chasing the ball up and down slopes!
Change of plan: it looks like I´ll be playing the Xiamen International Ladies Open in China next month after all.
