Last Day: Rough & finished T25th
Alison Whitaker summed it up pretty well: "Not the round Leticia was hoping for, she has had a rough day".
I just could not get it going. I started off with a birdie and finished with a bogey and not much good happened in between.
Two holes I did not follow my game plan, I bogeyed both and the putts did not drop either, so.... I am not a happy bunny today because I know I can do a lot better.
But I have to take the positive with me: that was my 9th cut in a row!
I did get off to a good start!:
You can watch the complete 4th round here:
Third Day, Day to Move and Rock & Roll: -5 and T11th!
Go figure, today I moved up 25 spots. I played exactly the same as the first two days, yet today I was 6 under till the bogey on the last hole and that missing two short putts that should have put me at -8. The only difference: today some putts went in.
Tomorrow I´ll be looking to make a Top 10.
Second Tournament Day: Still Even, T36th..... 9th cut in a row and counting!
A bit frustrating to be putting for birdie so. so often and yet not to be under par. Just have to be patient, sooner or later they will start dropping in.
At least I am in the mix over the next two days and I get the chance to battle my way up the scoreboard!
Second Tournament Day: 5:30 am
Working on my putting before the sun comes up: today those putts are going in!!! Teeing off at 07:05
First Tournament Day: Even
Not too pleased with the result. I had lots of birdie chances, but the putts just did not drop.
Where I did not get on the green, I got up and down, but there was a three putt that was totally unnecessary. Even is not a good enough score on this course, the long hitters can murder this course, the fairways being so wide and there are lots of low scores.
Tomorrow I´ll have to get some shots back to move up the board and that means putting better than today.
Back in China again to play the Xiamen Open!
Xiamen and the surrounding area was devastated by Typhoon Meranti three weeks ago leaving the golf course in a pitiful condition. The Ladies European Tour decided to nevertheless uphold the tournament and donate a percentage of the prize money to the people here as a way to help.
Today was a special day. We drove through some areas recently hit by the huge typhoon just three weeks ago and realized just how much destruction it had caused. We visited three of the unfortunate families affected and donated sacks of rice, oil and washing powder. It may seem a drop in the ocean, but every little bit helps.
We then visited a local primary school and taught the little kids how to swing a golf club. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm.
Tee Off at 11:35 (05:35 European Time)
This course is long and the long hitters have a definite advantage as it has wide fairways, although the thick rough will penalize stray tee shots. Those that can carry the bunkers and hazards can really eat up this course.
The greens are mostly small, but there is little or no rough surrounding them, so those not hitting their long clubs accurately will usually be able to get up and down.
The fairways are in poor condition, but all told, it is a wonder the course is playable at all after the typhoon and the rain we have had up till today.
It is so humid, that a ball carries about 5 meters less than usual.
